Basic Handling Skills Test (BHST) 1 Hour
1 Hour Session - Get Road Ready
Service Description
The Basic Handling Skills Test (BHST) is the first step in getting you licensed and ready to ride a motorcycle. In New Zealand, you must be atleast 16 years old and pass a BHST before applying for a motorcycle learner licence. The BHST ensures that you have the necessary skills to ride safely on the road once you do obtain your learner licence. Coast Rider offers three different length sessions so that you can book according to your comfort levels and personal preferences; 1 Hour: $150 1.5 Hours: $200 2 Hours: $250 Our examiner knows those taking the BHST can be very early in their motorcycle journey, so for those that want more time, practice runs and one-on-one guidance you can book longer sessions to ensure you can run at your speed. The BHST is conducted in a quiet area, with a course set up to mimic common road conditions and will cover four key manouveurs; 1. Basic turn and stopping 2. Figure eight and parking 3. Linking figure eights 4. Increased speed and emergency stopping Our training and assessment locations are in Gulf Harbour, Whangapararoa. You will be notified upon booking where your training/test will be held.
